The uptake of the “Learn to Skate” programmes have been overwhelming, originally we had expected 2-3 sessions a week, but started with 6-7 sessions a week! The groups are varied from high schools, colleges and learning difficulties schools.
Each group presents a new set of unique individuals, but they are all great fun to work with and always provide a laugh and a giggle both on and off the ice, keeping the mood light hearted and fun.
As with any group, some days are a little more difficult than others, some arriving a little to giddy, but what’s to be expected….they are out of the class room and trying something new.
The course follows the National Ice Skating Associations (NISA) coaching curriculum, so in the 6 weeks we are aiming to get through the basics and up to skills on level 3 on the NISA course, giving the students a good basic grounding in the fundamentals regardless of which style of skating they wish to pursue.
Hopefully we will have pictures, videos etc. on the site soon so you can get a taste of what the courses offer, and who knows, maybe get you interested in joining us on the ice?
